Pandemic Perplexities
Updated: Sep 23, 2020
I have been a tad bit remiss in updating my website and that includes trying to write a blog. I looked at my last submission and it was almost one year ago! Well, that isn't exactly a good thing to do when I am wanting to encourage other artists to be accountable.
The year of 2020 is quickly disappearing into the year that never was. This was the year I was going to be traveling more, holding artist retreats so artists could remove the creative blocks and move forward and into their creative lives with full fervor. This was the year I was going to be selling my art and connecting with people at art festivals and instead it has found me standing in the eye of the storm and trying to figure out what the hell to do.
Seeking refuge in my studio has been my solution to it all. I can stay home and create and then create some more. It's not really different than before the pandemic. It's just that it now has become a requirement to keep my sanity somewhat intact.
I wondered what to do about pricing my art and pricing my services as a creativity coach. I worried that these are not priorities in the vast majority of peoples' worlds. I couldn't decide if I should submit any work to galleries because how many people would actually be going to any galleries or looking at the possible slideshow online. I didn't just wonder about it, I ignored these problems and just kept working on art. I created art and then posted on FaceBook and Instagram. I had to share my art and make that much needed to connection to others through art. I didn't want to hear about politics or pandemic, I wanted to share art and I wanted others to share their art with me.
Our culture, our art, that is our truth and who we are. We are so much more than what is swirling around and creating chaos in our lives. We can paint, photograph, draw, sculpt, write, sing, dance and make music.
Share yourself and share your art. The world needs artists more than ever right now. Set yourself free by creating and sharing. We will all be in a much better place because of it.
