She decided to keep moving. Using the ties that bound her as a swing, she used all of her strength to push harder and yet remained in the same place. Dreaming under the light of the blood red moon, she realized that all she needed was a sharp pair of scissors. - Paula Goodbar

The Resilience Project
The objective was to empower nine women from all walks of life as they expose their vulnerability, strength, flaws, beauty and courage. Women are more than the roles society may have us play. We are more than a female body judged by public opinion based on unrealistic expectations. These are women that have cultivated a sense of self-awareness. Flexible, giving, accepting of themselves and others as women, and realizing that they are not alone in the continuing flow of life. This series explores the dark times of doubt, despair, fear, and depression as well as celebrates the strength of friendship, truth, and acceptance. It's the story that all women carry through generations.
I created dreamlike effects to give a more ethereal feeling to some of the original photographs.
As a photo surrealist, I wanted to blend the harsh realities, dreams and spirits of these women.
